The Walt Disney Company is throwing Disney Plus a massive second birthday party, announcing Disney Plus Day, a global celebration of the streaming service.
It's hard to believe that it's only been two years since Disney Plus has been on the scene, as the streaming service took off immediately with the success of The Mandalorian and has continued to roll out huge hits including Marvel's original series WandaVision and Loki . In its two years, it has already amassed 116 million subscribers worldwide, according to the most recent report in September.
Disney Plus Day is a celebration for fans with a whole batch of newly available content on Disney Plus. There's also a massive welcome to new fans — in the form of a rare subscription offer. From November 8-14, new subscribers can get their first month of Disney Plus for just $1.99/£1.99.

Disney Plus Day new series and original movie announcements
Now that Disney Plus Day is officially here, the streaming service is celebrating by announcing release dates for highly anticipated series and original movies, as well as some of our first information on brand new ones. You can keep up with all of the Disney Plus Day announcements by following Disney Plus of Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Some announcements are also exclusive to the Disney Plus streaming service.

The Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild (Jan. 28, 2022)

The long-awaited sequel to Enchanted , Disenchanted was officially given a 2022 premiere by stars Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey. In addition, they shared that Enchanted is now available on the streaming service.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules
A new animated adventure from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise was announced, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules . No information on a release date was shared.
Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers
The classic Disney characters Chip & Dale are back with an all new Disney Plus original movie, Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers , with John Mulaney and Andy Samberg voicing the characters.
Better Nate Than Never (Spring 2022)
Better Nate Than Never is a Disney Plus original movie that stars Aria Brooks, Michelle Federer, Norbert Leo Butz, Joshua Bassett and Lisa Kudrow, plus introducing Rueby Wood as Nate.
Hocus Pocus 2 (Fall 2022)
Disney Plus shared the first official look at Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker back in costume as the Sanderson sisters in this anticipated sequel to the Halloween classic.
Pinocchio (Fall 2022)
A live action remake of the Disney classic Pinocchio is coming to Disney Plus in Fall 2022, with Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo and Luke Evans, as well as the voices of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key and Lorraine Bracco. Robert Zemeckis is directing.

Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett (Now streaming)
This documentary looks at the most famous bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, ahead of his brand new original series, The Book of Boba Fett . Disney Plus shared the official trailer:
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Exclusive to Disney Plus subscribers, a special first-look at the new Star Wars original series on the famous jedi (played by Ewan McGregor) is now available on the streaming sevice.
Cars on the Road (2022)
Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy return to voice their Cars characters Lightning McQueen and Mater in a new Disney Plus original series that will debut in 2022.
Pixar documentaries (2022)
Disney Plus has announced that feature-length making-of documentaries for upcoming Pixar movies Turning Red and Lightyear will be released in 2022.
Win or Lose (Fall 2023)
A new animated original series from Pixar and Disney Plus, Win or Lose will premiere in Fall 2023. First look artwork was shared.
Zootopia+ (2022)
A new short-form series that is based on the Disney animated movie Zootopia .
Tiana (2023)
A new long-form musical series based off The Princess and the Frog , which follows Tiana, the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia, on a new adventure, but her New Orleans past isn't far behind.
Disney Intertwined ( Entrelazados) (Now available)

Marvel Studios' 2021 Disney Plus Day Special (Now available)
Available exclusively to Disney Plus subscribers, this special presentation features special new looks at many upcoming Marvel original series, including Hawkeye and the first looks at Moon Knight , She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel , all coming in 2022.
New Marvel Disney Plus series
A number of other new Marvel Disney Plus original series were also announced, here's the full rundown:
- Echo :a series starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, who will be introduced in Hawkeye
- Ironheart : a series starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man
- Agatha: House of Harkness :a series starring Kathryn Hahn as her character from WandaVision . Jac Schaefer returns as executive producer and head writer.
- Secret Invasion : a series starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in Captain Marvel . The crossover comic event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.
- The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special : a special written and directed by Guardians of the Galaxy veteran James Gunn
- X-MEN '97 :an animated series from Marvel Studios that explores new stories in the iconic '90s timeline of the original X-Men animated series. Beau DeMayo is executive producer and head writer.
- What If…? (Season 2):the second season of the fan-favorite animated series. After enlisting the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Infinity Ultron, The Watcher returns in Season 2 of What If...? to meet new heroes and explore more strange new worlds in the MCU's ever-expanding Multiverse. Directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews with executive producer AC Bradley serving as head writer.
- Spider-Man: Freshman Year :an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character's early comic book roots. Executive producer Jeff Trammel serves as head writer.
- I Am Groot : a series of original shorts exploring Baby Groot's glory days growing up, and getting into trouble, among the stars. Directed by executive producer Kirsten Lepore.
- Marvel Zombies : an animated series from Marvel Studios that reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge. Directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews.
Disney Plus also a new slate of 20th Century Studios titles that will premiere on some of its other streaming services, Hulu for U.S. audiences and Star for international audiences (Star Plus for Latin America):
Rosaline (2022)
A fresh comedic twist on Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" in which the classic love story is told from the perspective of Juliet's cousin Rosaline … who just happens to be Romeo's ex-girlfriend. Starring Kaitlyn Dever and directed by Karen Maine.
The Princess (Summer 2022)
An irreverent action movie set in a fairy tale world. Joey King stars as a young royal who is more comfortable with a sword than a tiara and must save her kingdom from ruthless mercenaries. Directed by Le-Van Kiet.
Prey (Summer 2022)
An all-new entry in the Predator franchise, Prey is set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
No Exit (2022)
This harrowing suspense-thriller follows Darby Thorne, played by Havana Rose Liu, a young woman who is stranded by a blizzard and forced to find shelter at a highway rest area with a group of strangers.
When is Disney Plus Day?

Disney Plus officially launched to consumers on Nov. 12, 2019 and, since Disney Plus Day is serving as a two-year birthday celebration, of course.
This is the very first Disney Plus Day, but Disney CEO Bob Chapek has already committed to celebrating on Nov. 12 for years to come. He's suggested it will be a day to celebrate Disney's overall mission, as well as the streaming service.
"This day of appreciation brings to life our mission to entertain, inform and inspire fans and families around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling and will become an annual tentpole event to be amplified across our global business."

What is Disney Plus Day?
While Disney Plus Day marks two years for the Disney Plus streaming service, The Walt Disney Company is extending the celebration across all parts of its company.
First off, Disney Plus subscribers will be getting a boat load of new content on the service from iconic brands including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star (in international markets), as well as a special presentation of what is coming down the line on Disney Plus. The day will also serve as a launch for Disney Plus into South Korea and Taiwan on Nov. 12, followed by its launch in Hong Kong on Nov. 16.
Outside of Disney Plus, Disney Parks and Resorts around the world and the Disney Cruise Line are also going to be celebrating the day, offering photo opportunities, character moments and more. On shopDisney.com there will be special offers available as well.
In addition, popular network shows and syndicated series across ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN, ESPN Plus, Freeform, FX, Hulu and National Geographic in the U.S., as well as Disney-owned channels abroad, will join in the celebration.
Disney Plus Day new releases
Disney Plus Day will bring the release of a multitude of new titles to the Disney Plus streaming service for fans to enjoy, including new movies, new original series and the return of some Disney Plus favorites. There will also be some previews for what to expect in the near future from iconic brands like Marvel and Star Wars.
Here is a breakdown of what new content fans can expect on Disney Plus Day:
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings streaming debut
- Jungle Cruise made available to all Disney Plus subscribers
- Premiere of Home Sweet Home Alone , a Disney Plus Original movie
- Olaf Presents , a series of animated shorts featuring Frozen 's Olaf retelling classic Disney stories
- US (domestic) streaming debut of classic Disney animated short films, including Frozen Fever , Feast , Paperman , Get a Horse and more
- A new short film, Ciao Alberto , from Pixar will premiere, based on the characters from Luca
- A new short film from The Simpsons will debut that pays tribute to Disney Plus' marquee brands
- The first five episodes of The World According to Jeff Goldblum season 2 will debut
- A special celebrating the origins and legacy of Star Wars' Boba Fett, ahead of the release of Disney Plus original series The Book of Boba Fett
- A special celebrating the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney Plus, including a look at the MCU's future
- Miniseries Dopesick will be released in international markets

- The Making of Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles documentary about Billie Eilish's Disney Plus concert movie

- The debut of 2007's Enchanted starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey

Starting at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT, fans that follow @DisneyPlus on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram will be able to see first looks, new trailers, exclusive clips and appearances from Disney Plus creators and stars for upcoming content from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star (in select international territories). Disney Plus also now has its own TikTok account that will feature fun content.
Then at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT, Disney Plus subscribers will have access to exclusive on-platform specials from Pixar Animation Studios, then one from Marvel at 11:45 a.m. ET/8:45 a.m. PT, as well as other surprise sneak peeks.
Other Disney Plus Day features and deals
In addition to the limited time subscription deal and all the brand new content on Disney Plus, Disney Plus Day will have plenty more to celebrate the day.
A new feature coming to Disney Plus on Nov. 12 looks to improved home viewing of Marvel's biggest movies, as the streaming service is launching the ability to watch select Marvel movies in IMAX's Expanded Aspect Ratio with what is being called IMAX Enhanced on Disney Plus. This new feature will offer select scenes in 1:90:1 aspect ratio, which offers a larger picture by as much as 26%. As of Nov. 12, 13 Marvel movies will have IMAX Enhanced: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ; Iron Man ; Guardians of the Galaxy ; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ; Captain America: Civil War ; Doctor Stranger ; Thor: Ragnarok ; Black Panther ; Avengers: Infinity War ; Ant-Man and the Wasp ; Captain Marvel ; Avengers : Endgame ; and Black Widow .
Disney has also announced some of the special network celebrations it will have all week long, including the likes of Anthony Anderson, Peyton Manning, Kelly Ripa, Yara Shahidi, Bear Grylls, Sarah Paulson, Kat Dennings and Tamera Mowry-Housely sharing what they are watching on Disney Plus in a series of spots. There will also be exclusive Disney Plus Original spots airing on Monday Night Countdown and Monday Night Football on ESPN; on Friday, Jeopardy! will feature a special Disney Plus category; and there will also be integrations and in-show mentions of Disney Plus on the likes of Dancing With the Stars , General Hospital , Live! With Kelly Ripa , Wheel of Fortune , Tamron Hall , The View , Jimmy Kimmel Live! , Stephen A's World , NFL Live , NBA Today , SportsNation and more.
In addition, there will be deals from other areas of The Walt Disney Company. Disney Parks all over the world will let Disney Plus subscribers (with valid entry tickets) enter the parks 30 minutes early, as well as feature character moments and photo opportunities, with complementary Disney PhotoPass downloads at select locations.
ShopDisney will offer free shipping in the U.S. and Europe from Nov. 12-14 for Disney Plus subscribers. U.S. customers will also have new customizable products available (for a limited time).
Disney Publishing Worldwide is offering select ebooks for $0.99 through Nov. 17.
Plus, Disney is launching exclusive NFTs; is teaming with Funko for 10% off on Disney Plus products from Nov. 12-14; offering an exclusive 5% discount on Shop.WizKids.com from Nov. 8-14; teaming up with Target to host in-store activations from Nov. 12-14 in almost 800 U.S. locations; and from Nov. 12-14, more than 200 AMC theaters will have four daily surprise screenings of Disney movies (guests won't know which movie are being shown until they begin).
